This year (2017) marks the 25th Anniversary since the founding of ProConsult. ProConsult was founded by two people - Mr Peter Dorai-Raj and Dr. Kathleen Fitzgerald. To mark this anniversary, we held a public talk on 02nd November in the Connacht Hotel in Galway City. The talk was given by Dr Harry Barry. The subject of the talk was " Anxiety - the modern epidemic - how counselling can help." We were honoured on the night by the presence of the Deputy City Mayor, Councillor Mike Cubboard and by the county Mayor, councillor Eileen Mannion. We were also delighted to have Deputy Hildegarde Naughton present.

There was a very large public turn out, with the event attended by approximately 150.

Following initial opening comments and welcomes, the event commenced with an address by Deputy Naughton who spoke about the need for counselling in the Galway area. Peter Dorai-Raj then said a few words of thanks. Kathleen Fitgerald then spoke about the beginnings of Proconsult and about the service that is provided today.

Dr Barry gave the keynote speech of the event which was very well received and generated a lot of questions upon its conclusion.

A cake to commemorate the occasion was cut by Peter and Kathleen.

All in all, it was a very informative and enjoyable event!
