All of our therapists work from an integrative, humanistic stance and view each client as a unique individual who needs a tailored approach to the issues they are presenting. Our therapists have varied training and experience; including Person Centred therapy, Gestalt therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Body work, Specialist Trauma Training, Couples Therapy and Domestic & Sexual Violence training with Galway Rape Crisis Centre. All of our therapists adhere to their professional organisation code of ethics, good practice and undertake continuous professional and personal development.
As co-founder with the late Peter Dorai Raj, Kathleen has been working in Pro Consult since its foundation in 1992. As a Senior Chartered Clinical and Counselling Psychologist, Kathleen brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her counselling /psychotherapy practice. She is an Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and an Associated Fellow with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). In addition to her psychology background, Kathleen is also a Certified Gestalt Therapist from the Gestalt Associates of Los Angeles and has a Doctorate in Psychotherapy from Dublin City University. Kathleen is the Clinical Manager in Pro Consult and monitors the Student and Trainee Counsellors to whom we offer placements to advance their training.
Dermot Hughes BSc (Psychology); B.A.Th.; B.Eng; MSc; Dip Counselling and Psychotherapy; Post Grad Dip CBT has been involved in Counselling for over 20 years and is an Accredited member of the IACP and associate member of BABCP. His experience as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist is wide ranging both in Ireland and abroad. Dermot is also an Accredited supervisor with IACP. He has worked in Chile, Sri Lanka and the U.S.A. He is also a fluent Spanish speaker. He uses a wide variety of counselling techniques including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Person-Centred Approach. He has a special training in CBT.
Bernadette has been working with Pro Consult since 2011 and works from a humanistic integrative perspective. She is an Accredited Member of IAHIP and IACP and a Psychotherapy Graduate of Dublin City University. She holds a B.A Degree in Psychology/Sociology from NUI Galway and a Grad.Dip. (Counselling & Psychotherapy). During her training Bernadette worked with Pieta House and has also gained specialist training with Galway Rape Crisis Centre on sexual violence and abuse. She has trained with the Online Therapy Institute U.K. in online therapy.
Ann is a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist, trained with The Tivoli Institute in Dun Laoghaire and has a Professional Diploma in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy. She is an Accredited member of the IACP and is working towards full accreditation with IAHIP.
Anne’s journey in becoming a counsellor and psychotherapist began with a Foundation Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Galway Counselling Studies in 2012. She successfully completed a four year training in Tracht Psychotherapy Foundation in Kinvara, Co. Galway and received a Higher Diploma in Biodynamic and Integrative Psychotherapy. She also subsequently completed a course with the Galway Rape Crisis Centre on ‘Working with Sexual Violence and Aggression. Anne is an Accredited Member of the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) and the Irish Association for Body Psychotherapy (IABP). She has also completed training in Trauma work.
Ida is an accredited therapist with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). She has a BA in Holistic Counselling and Psychotherapy, and also has a certificate in couples counselling.Ida offers therapy to individuals and couples. She conducts sessions in English. She can also work in Croatian. Her integrative and holistic approach incorporates mindfulness, internal family systems and inner child work. As a yoga teacher, she integrates breath and body awareness and practical elements of Eastern philosophy to help clients lead happier, more fulfilled lives. Having studied and lived internationally, Ida brings an intercultural perspective to her practice. She has worked with several counselling services in Galway, as well as in private practice. Her focus is on helping clients understand themselves better and live more authentically.
Mary-Kate has worked as a counsellor/psychotherapist for over 20 years and is an Accredited member of IACP. Her qualifications include: BA(Hons) English Literature & Language, BA (Hons) in Holistic Counselling & Psychotherapy, Post-graduate Diploma in Guidance & Counselling, Diploma in Hakomi Body-Centered Psychotherapy and a Professional Certificate in Psychosynthesis. She has also completed The Sacred Art of Living and Dying programme. Mary-Kate is currently completing a MSc in Pluralistic Counselling & Psychotherapy.
